Customer towed in a Coda to my shop that will not Ready up.

the 12V is good, red immobilizer light goes out when chip key is inserted but turning to start nothing happens.(no READY)

Customer did try to start car with a plain silver (non chip) key he had made, which the owners manual says will activate the immobilizer and may disable the car. If this is true that is crazy. What kind of car company would brick the car if you simply try a non valid key in the ignition cylinder?

Anyone seen this or have a solution? What else should I look at?
How about a source for obtaining service manuals, scan tool etc? It's hard to work on a car with no information.

This Guide shows what is involved to perform a shut down sequence. It should clear any battery faults, and reboots the car back in the "READY" state.

I tried disconnecting all power etc as mentioned above, it didn't help. I was able to purchase service manual from Thunderstruck Motors so I'll dig through that and see if it helps.

For 12v reset I unplug neg 12v and place load resistor or test light across 12v leads to drain 12v circuit of any capacitance from modules that keep memory.

If that doesn't do it I keep the 12v disconnected and remove pack split wire to remove HV from the only module left powered with the vehicle off (BMS). The pack splitting connect is the one under the center of the vehicle above the orange plastic cover.

or try changing battery in key if it is equipped with one.

also see my post on the scan tool and DTC's.

one off the wall option is the guys at ev tv motor verks have module they sell; that overrides the key activation signal (for coda UQM powertrain). it may be possible to use just that part of there module to override your key issue.

Ive only had the car for 2 months and I do not have to reshift back into D all the time. Most of time I would park correctly in the garage.

Can someone test if their car does the same?

By the way, stumbled upon http://vehhistory.com . This is a website offering the vin reports that are offered by the Carfax. They also don’t charge for these reports.
